Making a bequest is a powerful way to support and improve the health of future generations, including your own family.

As you nominate to leave a gift to Australian Heart Research (AHR) in your Will, you will join the valued group of AHR supporters known as the Beating Hearts Community and become a Heart Guardian.

Through Australian Heart Research you may wish to make your bequest to a specific type of heart disease research, a specific research fellowship or a student scholarship. We are happy to help you tailor your bequest so it supports heart disease research in a way that is most meaningful to you.

There are several different types of bequests you can make:
Percentage
A percentage bequest is a nominated percentage of your estate.
Specific
A specific bequest is a nominated amount or a specific gift.
Residual
The residual bequest is what remains of your estate after family and friends have been provided for.

By leaving a bequest to Australian Heart Research in your Will, you are helping to ensure that vital medical research into heart disease will continue beyond your lifetime. Your support will bring us closer to a world where your sons, daughters, grandsons and granddaughters will no longer suffer because of heart disease.

Your Will…
A Will is one of the most important documents you will prepare as you provide for the people you love and causes that are most significant to you. By including Australian Heart Research (AHR) in your Will, you are leaving a meaningful contribution that will change and improve the lives of Australians and their families in years to come.

If you already have a Will in place and wish to make provisions for AHR, a simple amendment or codicil can be arranged through your solicitor.

Wording…
To ensure that the correct preparation and wording of your bequest is recorded in your Will, we suggest you make an appointment with your solicitor.

To make a bequest to Australian Heart Research, the following wording may be useful:
‘I give (insert the bequest detail – the percentage of the estate, a nominated gift or the residual, or property, money or item of value) to Australian Heart Research of 60 Woodville Road, Woodville, South Australia 5011 and I declare that the receipt of the Public Officer, Chief Financial Officer or Chief Executive Officer for the time being shall be sufficient discharge to my Trustee/s for the payment of such benefit.’

Thank you for your consideration in remembering Australian Heart Research in your Will.
